Ramanashree Hotels & Resorts is a well-established hospitality brand in Bengaluru, hosting corporate travellers, leisure guests, and event attendees across its properties. Ramanashree House — the group's head office and main branch — is the operational nerve centre: reservations, administration, management, and front-desk coordination all run from here. Behind the warm welcomes and smooth check-ins lies a layer of technology that most guests never think about — until it stops working.
Wi-Fi dead zones in the back office. An IP CCTV system that didn't cover the entrance properly — dome vs bullet camera was the wrong choice for the angle. A staff attendance system built on paper registers and goodwill. An intercom that meant walking three floors to relay a housekeeping request. These aren't dramatic IT failures — they're the everyday operational friction that quietly erodes both efficiency and guest confidence.
Ramanashree Hotels engaged Layerix Networking Experts — a Bengaluru-based enterprise IT infrastructure company with a zero-outsourcing model and 35+ certified in-house engineers — to replace the patchwork with a properly engineered, documented, and supported infrastructure stack. The brief: five systems, one partner, 15 days, no guest disruption.
The Challenge — Five Vendors, One Bill, or One Partner?
Most hospitality IT projects are assembled from five separate vendor relationships: one for enterprise Wi-Fi, one for IP CCTV, one for biometric access control, one for IP telephony, and one for structured cabling. Each installs independently, each blames the others when something doesn't work, and the hotel ends up owning the coordination problem forever. Ramanashree Hotels had lived that reality and was done with it.
- Wi-Fi dead zones in back-office and service areas: Without a proper heatmap-driven access point placement, the previous APs were placed for convenience, not coverage. Staff used mobile data for inventory and housekeeping updates — a daily workaround.
- IP CCTV coverage gaps at entrance points: The existing camera selection — wrong lens type, wrong mounting position — left blind spots at loading areas and staff entry points. Disputes over entry/exit times had no footage to resolve them. A proper structured cabling and CCTV deployment with correct dome vs bullet camera selection was needed.
- Paper-based staff attendance — no identity assurance: Manual registers are manipulable and impossible to audit. A fingerprint biometric attendance system with liveness detection was the right answer — a card or PIN can be shared, a fingerprint cannot.
- No EM door lock on restricted areas: Staff-only storage, back-office records, and IT equipment rooms had no physical access control. An electromagnetic door lock with fire alarm release interface and Mifare RFID card access was needed — anti-passback to prevent tailgating, fire release for safety compliance.
- No internal IP telephony backbone: Department communication ran on personal mobiles. An IP PBX/EPABX with wireless handsets per department would eliminate personal phone dependency for internal calls.
- Hard 15-day deadline: The full scope — passive cabling, IP CCTV, biometric access control, IP PBX, and enterprise Wi-Fi access point deployment — needed to go from site walk to fully commissioned in 15 days, during a low-occupancy window.
Layerix responded with a single Bill of Materials covering all five systems, a parallel-track installation schedule, and a single commitment: one certified in-house team, full accountability, commissioned in 15 days.

Every component — passive cabling, PoE switching, IP CCTV cameras, fingerprint biometric access control, IP PBX, and enterprise Wi-Fi access point deployment — was designed as a system, cabled on the same infrastructure, and commissioned by the same in-house certified team.

The 15-Day Sprint — How It Actually Happened
A hospitality property is never completely empty. Layerix ran three parallel work tracks across 15 days — structured cabling and CCTV backbone first, biometric access control and IP telephony second, and enterprise Wi-Fi access point deployment plus final commissioning third. The sequence wasn't arbitrary: cabling runs before every other system because every other system depends on it.
Before Any Active Device — The Structured Cabling Infrastructure Goes In First
No enterprise Wi-Fi, no PoE IP CCTV, and no IP PBX works reliably without a proper structured cabling infrastructure underneath. Day one started with a site walk, cable route planning through PVC conduit, and rack installation — before a single active device touched the wall. The structured cabling and CCTV deployment back boxes went in simultaneously so camera positions were fixed before cameras were mounted.

EM Door Lock + Mifare RFID + Fire Alarm Release
Electromagnetic door lock fitted at the restricted staff access door — EM lock, exit switch, and Mifare RFID cards issued to authorised staff. Only the right person passes. No tailgating. WiFi IP cameras mounted at entrance and key monitoring points — PoE powered over Cat6 drops. Each camera records to a 256GB microSD card locally — no NVR dependency means footage is available even when the network is down. Dome vs bullet selection finalised at each position based on coverage angle and mounting height confirmed in Day 1 site walk.

Grandstream UCM6301 EPABX configured with FXO/FXS lines. Wireless GRP2601W handsets enrolled and assigned to housekeeping, front desk, kitchen, restaurant, and management. Every department now has a direct internal extension — no personal mobile minutes for internal calls, no more walking three floors to relay a message.

The final five days completed the enterprise Wi-Fi 6 access point deployment — Aruba AP21 and AP25 units ceiling-mounted at positions determined from the site survey, not from guesswork. The PoE managed switch powered every AP and camera over a single Cat6 drop. Then the post-deployment walk-test validated signal strength and roaming zone by zone before sign-off.

Post-Deployment Walk-Test — Signal, Roaming, Speed Validated
After all APs were live, a post-deployment walk-test validated real-world coverage zone by zone — signal strength, roaming handoff between AP21 and AP25, and throughput at every coverage zone. This is the step most AP installers skip; Layerix includes it as standard because cloud-managed wireless is only as good as the validation that confirmed it works.
